NW teacher selected as AP for SE, SW

Northwest School fourth-grade teacher Kathleen Kasprowicz will be the next assistant principal of Southeast and Southwest Schools.

Kasprowicz has worked in D124 for the past four years and was previously the principal of Chicago’s St. Agnes of Bohemia School from 2011-2015. She will officially replace Scott Liska on July 1, 2020, who at that time will take over as principal of Southwest School.

D124 Superintendent Dr. Robert Machak said he expects that Kasprowicz to continue the district’s tradition of finding assistant principals who are quality administrators that share responsibility for the instructional initiatives being led by the principals in each school.

“Kathleen is an excellent classroom teacher; she understands how important building relationships is; she also understands the role of data and assessment in making decisions that impact her students,” Machak said." The students, staff, and families on the south side of town are going to love Kathleen."

Kasprowicz earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota and master’s degrees in education and educational administration from Loyola University Chicago and the University of Notre Dame.

Serving as an administrator and as a teacher in both urban and suburban schools for the past 13 years has strengthened Kasprowicz’s belief in the power of education to change lives and positively impact the community, which she believes will help lead her to success as an administrator in the district.

"I am incredibly excited for the opportunity to serve as the Assistant Principal at Southwest and Southeast Schools," she said. "District 124 is a remarkable community and I am so grateful to continue my service to the students, staff, and families in a new role. I look forward to getting to know the Southwest and Southeast communities and to working together to create a positive learning environment for all."

La maestra de cuarto grado de la Escuela Northwest- Kathleen Kasprowicz serak la nueva subdirectora de las escuelas Southeast y Southwest.

Kasprowicz ha trabajado en D124 por los pasados cuatro años y previamente fue la directora de la escuela en Chicago St. Agnes of Bohemia School de 2011-2015. Ella reemplazará oficialmente a Scott Liska el 1o de julio de 2020, quien a su vez tomará el puesto de director de la Escuela Southwest School.

Kasprowicz obtuvo su Licenciatura en University of Minnesota y su Maestría en educación y administración educativa en Loyola University Chicago y University of Notre Dame.
